Vaitheeswaran Kovil or Pullirukkuvelur is a Hindu temple, where we workship Lord shiva and It is one of the nine Navagraha temples and it is for the planet Mars (Angaraka). Few interesting stories in this temple are the below:
In Siddhamirtham tank, where 18 theerthas are mixed which cures all diseases for people. When Sage Sadananda was performing thavam/penance near tank, he saw a snake trying to prey a frog. As the incident disturbed his thavam, he cursed snake and frog. From then, it said to be there will be the absence of frog/snake over the area.
In the Ramayanam period, Lord Rama, Lord Lakshmana and Saptarishi have worshipped in this place.[3] There is a pond called Jatayu kundam where the final rituals of Jatayu were performed by Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmana.
The place of medicine that offers cure for 4448 diseases. The anthill sand, abishek water, the neem leaves and abishek sandal and abishek sacred ash are mixed and made a medicinal ball,by having this which brings cure of any disease. By applying punugu oil ,skin problems will be cured.
